A. Sweeping with a soft bristle broom and vacuuming with a soft floor attachment that could collect debris. You also should clean your floors periodically with a professional wood floor cleaning product recommended by a wood flooring professional.

A. 1.Do not use sheet vinyl or tile floor care products on wood floors.
2.Use throw rugs both inside and outside doorways to help prevent grit, dirt and other debris from being tracked onto your wood floors. This will help prevent scratching.
3.Do not wet-mop a wood floor; the standing water can dull the finish and damage the wood.
4.Use a slightly dampened towel to immediately clean up any spills
5.Instead of over-waxing a wood floor, try buffing instead.
6.Use soft fabric or plastic-faced gliders underneath the legs of furniture and appliances.
7.Avoid walking on the flooring with cleats, sports shoes and high heels as much as possible.
8.When moving heavy objects, try to lift and move rather than sliding the objects across the floor.
9.When you have wood flooring in the kitchen, it’s best to place a small area rug in where you stand at the kitchen sink
10.Use a humidifier during the winter months to minimize gaps of cracks between the planks.

A. Before any work begins, Naturally Hardwood Floors will remove furnishings upon agreement. With new installations, the wood will need to acclimate which is a process that can range from two days to two weeks depending on the wood.

A. If your project requires the floors to be sanded, finished, or refinished, be prepared that there will be some noise and controlled disruption. We hang plastic and seal off rooms, but you should still cover items that you want to keep dust-free. When finishes are applied, it’s important to stay off the flooring until it has completely dried. The drying time required will range, depending on the type of finish used.

A. Once the finish has fully dried, follow the tips for preventative maintenance and care. It’s important to remember that variations in the wood’s appearance are completely natural. Whether it’s seasonal humidity, causing the wood to expand and contract or normal cracks that will appear and disappear depending on the weather, all variations are normal. Change in color can be minimized by limiting the wood’s exposure to direct sunlight. Keep your wood floors looking their best by maintaining proper upkeep. A. The engineered floor has a top layer of real wood available in almost any hardwood species. With a factory designed core and top layer finish you receive a higher degree of durability than solid hardwood floors. Engineered wood can be sanded to erase scratches and restore the grain adding value in the long run. Also, they can be installed over concrete foundations eliminating the need for a costly sub floor.

A. Laminate floors combine natural looking designs with a tough, durable finish that can be used in almost any area of the home. Laminate floors can replicate many of the popular hand-scraped hardwood floors.
